Adoption Policies:
1. We reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone and use whatever method we see fit to screen potential adopters.
2. The adoption application process is as follows:
A potential adopter must fill out the adoption application and return it to us.
The adoption application will be reviewed by B and T staff.
If the application passes, an in-person interview will be scheduled.
The in-person interview will screen the potential adopter more carefully and test their knowledge of the species they are interested
in adopting.
3. Due to our policy to conduct in-person interviews, we only adopt locally.
4. We do not adopt out Reptiles to anyone under 18 years of age. For parents adopting Reptiles for their children, we consider the
parent the applicant and the responsible party, therefore we will test his/her knowledge of the animal and its care rather than the
child's.
5. Our reptiles are never to be bred.
Responsible breeders know the history and origin of their breeding stock. The reptiles that come into our care often have unknown
histories and most likely came from pet stores and irresponsible breeders.
Most of the reptiles that come into our care are "wild type"/normal patterned or other very common color morphs. Normals and
other common morphs have flooded the market, and sadly these reptiles are seen without much dollar value. A responsible
breeder should try to avoid producing more normals into a saturated market, therefore breeding these normal animals would be
irresponsible and should be discouraged.
6. If an adopter can no longer keep the reptile they have adopted from us, they must return it to B and T Reptile Haven at no cost
to us. Under no circumstances can the reptile be sold, traded, given away, or released.
7. B and T Reptile Haven has the right to contact the adopter on occasion to check up on the reptile that was adopted.
8. All Adoption fees are strictly for the reptile only. no enclosures are included and all adoption fees go straight back into caring for more reptiles.
